We escaped Houston for the weekend to San Antonio!
On the way to San Antonio, I messaged a co-worker who used to live there for restaurant suggestions. He is another foodie and we liked all the suggestions he has given us in Houston as well. So definitely a reliable source for food! :D One of the places he recommended was Cured. We have been to San Antonio previously, but have not tried this restaurant. This restaurant was open late, take reservation, great food menu, and wine. We were able to make a reservation at 10pm and we went for it!
Our waiter was wonderful. He was friendly, kind and attentive. As we don't eat pork, he checked with the chef multiple times to make sure the items we were ordering doesn't have any pork in them. We started off with ordering:

Our waiter was wonderful. He was friendly, kind and attentive. As we don't eat pork, he checked with the chef multiple times to make sure the items we were ordering doesn't have any pork in them. We started off with ordering:
- 3 from Charcuterie menu (2 orders of Smoked Duck Ham and 1 order of Chicken Liver Mousse)
- Buffalo Style Sweetbreads with goat cheese ranch, olives and celery
- Spicy Lamb Meatballs with ginger yogurt, local radish and grilled pears
Smoked Duck Ham & Chicken Liver Mousse is pictured on the top of the picture. Smoked Duck Ham was WONDERFUL. I could eat that thing all day. ALL DAY.. A little bit of mustard, pickled carrot and duck ham. YUM!
Buffalo Style Sweetbread is pictured on the bottom corner of the photo. It was great, but I think other dishes out-shined this one. The Ranch sauce has goat cheese in it so it got that little taste kick to it. Portion is pretty small.
Spicy Lamb Meatballs are in the middle! They give you 5 meatballs (Khizer couldn't wait and took one from the plate, so you only see 4 lol) It was not too spicy, so it is more of Spiced Lamb Meatballs I think. Great with the ginger yogurt it came with. It was cooked perfectly.
Of course, we don't stop here..
We got 2 more entrees, these were bigger portions.
- Pan-Seared Quail with Greens, Mole Grits, and Dates
Our last entree was Pan Roasted Scallops with Acorn Squash Love Letters, Capers, Golden Raisins, and Cauliflowers. Recommended HIGHLY by our server. This was probably my favorite scallop dish. There were 3 descent size scallops and the broth and that ACORN SQUASH LOVE LETTERS. I could not stop "mmMmmmMmm"-ing eating that. It was so delicate and creamy. Everything was so great. Khizer thought I would just drink the whole thing. why didn't I!?
If you get to go to this place, I would highly recommend this, if they have it on their menu.
For dessert, we got their Chocolate with Tarragon Ganache, Hazelnut Mousse with Bitter Orange Ice Cream. The disk shaped chocolate was like a dense flourless cake! As I love chocolate, this was a perfect dish for me. It was not overly chocolaty thanks to Tarragon. The flavor was balanced well. The ice cream was not my favorite, but went well with chocolate!
