I am finally back!
I have been meaning to & wanting to post another post, but there just isn't enough time for me to do everything!
Here is a post real quick before I go to the gym. (I think this is the worst time to do it since I am already hungry after work, and I gotta talk about food!?)
Roost is where we are going to talk about.
This is a pretty small restaurant that is like a part of a home or something. This place is GREAT for dinner with friends and family. Very chill and relaxed atmosphere. It is a bit dim in the inside (you can probably tell from my pictures).
Roost changes their menu every 1.5-2months (when we first went there the waiter told us every month, but that's not really the case as it turns out). They have 3 items that stays the same from menu to menu: Bread service - Slow Dough loaf / The famous fried cauliflower / Coffee and Donut Hole dessert.
Now let's jump into some food pictures
We ordered the Bread service & seared Halloumi cheese appetizer to begin with
The type of bread changes day to day. We have gotten Pretzel bread, Sourdough bread and Challah bread at different times. Yesterday was Challah bread. As always, the bread was amazing! The spread from left to right in the picture are: Kumquat butter - Porcini Mushroom butter - Charred Poblano butter - and Pimento Cheese spread next to it.
Kumquat butter and Porcini mushroom butter were my favorite. Kumquat butter was sweet, but not overly and Porcini mushroom butter was very savory (& I LOVE MUSHROOM)

The next appetizer was the reason why we went to Roost yesterday for dinner. Khizer saw Halloumi cheese on the menu and wanted me to try it. So here is the Seared halloumi cheese, spicy watercress, olive & fruit relish, agave nectar. This was my first time hearing about halloumi cheese and it was pretty salty. That's why you see fruit and agave nectar with it to try to balance that out. I think this alone would have been very salty, but as we ordered bread as appetizer too it was ok.
Now moving onto the main course we had.
I had the Herb seared salmon, local rice salad, fava beans, grilled lemon aioli and Khizer had the daily special: Short rib fettuccine with parmesean (forgot what the sauce was...)
We didn't have these yesterday, but if you are considering going here for the first time, oh you should definitely try their "The famous fried cauliflower" with bonito, miso dressing, pine nuts, and scallion. OH BOY. bonito and miso dressing with pine nuts and cauliflower are an amazing combo. We don't always always get it since it is fried and it can be a bit on the heavy/salty side. but VERY delicious.
Also, here is the 3rd item that stays on the menu permanently: Coffee n' donut holes, crushed pistachios, salted caramel and coffee ice cream. Be warned: these are pretty big! If you know me and Khiz, we eat A LOT. We got 2 appetizers and 1 entree each and we had this afterwards, we actually didn't finish it all. If you like coffee, this will be perfect dessert for you :)
