I am about 6 months late in posting this. I forgot that I saved it as a draft!
Peli Peli is still here and doing amazing & this place is so worth sharing, so I am going to post this (6 months late.)
We went to Peli Peli in the Galleria mall during the Houston Restaurant Week. We arrived on time for our reservation, but there were some delays and we didn't end up sitting in the main dining area so that was a bit disappointing, but food made up for it VERY fast.
Make sure you make a reservation since this is a pretty popular place & also not a huge restaurant. I have not been to their first location in Vintage Park, but that one might be bigger.
Check out there yelp page here and their website here.
Without further ado, let's jump into the food.we.ate. As this was the Restaurant Week Menu, we got 1 appetizer - 1 soup/salad - 1 entree - 1 dessert EACH :)

Appetizer 1 - Stuffed Mushrooms
[Champignon Mushroom, Chilean Sea Bass Stuffing, Stuffing & Peli Peli Sauce]
3 stars. (it is possible that this didn't taste as good because other appetizer was TOO good) Nothing too special about this dish.

Appetizer 2 - Bobotie
[Chec paul's version of an english cottage pie with a twist]
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars!!!!! This is a must. This dish is an award winning and there is a reason for that: full of flavors! It got layers representing different cultures in South Africa- India, Dutch, English, and one i forgot. The key is to get every layer! It was so wonderful we almost licked the dish.
Soup/Salad 1 - Peli Peli Side Salad
[fresh field greens topped with red onions, walnuts, carrots, red cabbage, & tropical fruits]
3 stars as well since this was one that special either. I liked how the raspberry vinaigrette dressing came on the side
Soup/Salad 2 - Carrot Ginger Soup
[carrots, onions, leeks, ginger root, orange and cream pureed and simmered with peli-peli spices]
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars. I am not a soup person, but DANG this soup was wonderful. It had carrot flavors (and color) but was not over powering and it was so creamy and soothing.
Entree 1 - Espetada
[a traditional Portuguese dish with 10 oz. of marinated prime beed in garlic herbs and spices]
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars! INCREDIBLE. I got my beef medium rare and it was perfectly cooked. Meat was so tender and was wonderful with all the sides that it came with. Also the presentation was def different from anything you have seen
Entree 2 - Curried Chicken
[peli-peli chicken seasoned with curry then simmered with celery, onion, peppers and cilantro]
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars! This dish comes out with coconut flakes and other things that you mix on your own before eating and it got the sweetness from coconut and just amazing!
Dessert 1 - Chocolate Mousse Cake
[Rich German Chocolate Cake, Layered with Chocolate Mousse]
4 stars! The size of this thing screams TEXAS. This was so big and even for chocolate lover like me, I was having hard time finishing it.
Dessert 2 - Sticky Toffee Pudding
[rich pudding cake smothered with homemade sticky toffee, a european favorite]
4 stars! also GIGANTIC and the ice cream goes very well with the pudding and ample amount of berries comes with the dish that compliments the dish so well
Bottom line, this was a GREAT place. We recommend this place for the Entrees + Bobotie + Carrot Ginger Soup! The food is great, but as it is located in the mall, it comes with higher price tag, but worth trying it :)
